vṛttiḥ --- avidyā moho+anātmanyātmābhimāna iti yāvat| sā kṣetraṃ prasavabhūmiruttareṣāmasmitādīnāṃ pratyekaṃ prasuptatanvādibhedena caturvidhānām| ato yatrāvidyā viparyayajñānarūpā śithilībhavati tatra kleśānāmasmitādīnāṃ nodbhavo dṛśyate| viparyayajñānasadbhāve ca teṣāmudbhavadarśanāt sthitameva mūlatvamavidyāyāḥ| prasuptatanuvicchinnodārāṇāmiti| tatra ye kleśāścittabhūmau sthitāḥ prabodhakābhāve svakāryaṃ nārabhante te prasuptā ityucyante| yathā bālāvasthāyāṃ bālasya hi vāsanārūpāḥ sthitā api kleśāḥ prabodhakasahakāryabhāve nābhivyajyante| te tanavo ye svasvapratipakṣabhāvanayā śithilīkṛtakāryasampādanaśaktayo vāsanā+avaśeṣatayā cetasyavasthitāḥ prabhūtāṃ sāmagrīmantareṇa svakāryamārabdhumakṣamā yathā+abhyāsavato yoginaḥ| te vicchinnā ye kenacidbalavatā kleśenābhibhūtaśaktayastiṣṭhanti yathā dveṣāvasthāyāṃ rāgo rāgāvasthāyāṃ vā dveṣaḥ| na hyanayoḥ parasparaviruddhayoryugapat sambhavo+asti| te udārā ye prāptasahakārisannidhayaḥ svaṃ svaṃ kāryamabhinirvartayanti yathā sadaiva yogaparipanthino vyutthānadaśāyām| eṣāṃ pratyekaṃ caturvidhānāmapi mūlabhūtatvena sthitā+apyavidyā+anvayitvena pratīyate| na hi kvacidapi kleśānāṃ viparyayānvayanirapekṣāṇāṃ svarūpamupalabhyate| tasmāt 5 mithyājñānarūpāyāmavidyāyāṃ samyagjñānena nivartitāyāṃ dagdhabījakalpānāmeṣāṃ na kvacit praroho+asti| ato+avidyānimittatvamavidyānvayaścaiteṣāṃ niścīyate| ataḥ sarve+apyavidyāvyapadeśabhājaḥ| sarveṣāṃ ca kleśānāṃ cittavikṣepakāritvādyoginā prathamameva taducchede yatnaḥ kārya iti ||4||
