Word Division

SARIT texts have different origins, so they do not implement word division in the same way.

One can speak of external division, that is, divisions between words, and internal division, that is, segmentation of the members of a compound. Based on this, SARIT texts can be divided into 5 groups.

  1. Full external and internal word division
    1. words are separated by spaces (or using w-elements) when sandhi allows, e.g. "tac ca", "ity eva";
    2. vowel merging has been reverted and the vowels are separated by hyphens, e.g. "asya-eva", "ca-iti", “śabda-artha”;
    3. members of compounds are separated by periods.
