अथ प्रवासविप्रयोगः—

कार्यतः संभ्रमाच्छापात् प्रवासो भिन्नदेशता ॥ ६४ ॥
द्वयोस्तत्राश्रुनिःश्वासकार्श्यलम्बालकादिता ।
1123तत्र भावी भवन् भूतस्त्रिधाद्यो बुद्धिपूर्वकः ॥ ६५ ॥

आद्यः कार्यजः समुद्रगमनसेवादिकार्यवशप्रवृत्तौ बुद्धिपूर्वकत्वाद् भूतभविष्यद्वर्तमानतया त्रिविधः ।

तत्र यास्यत्प्रवासो यथा—1124

होंतपहिअस्स जाआ आउच्छणजीअधारणरहस्सं ।
पुच्छंती भमइ घरं घरेण पिअविरहसहिरीआ ॥1125

होंतपहिअस्स ।

भविष्यत्पथिकस्य जाया आप्रच्छनजीवधारणरहस्यम्1126 ।
पृच्छन्ती भ्रमति गृहं गृहेण प्रियविरहसहनशीलाः1127 ॥

  1. tatra is in both A.T.A. and B.M.’s N.S.P. reads sa ca.

  2. N.S.P. reads the last part as … gharaṃ gharesu piavirahasahirīa- (and chāyā as gṛhād gṛheṣu priyavirahasahrīkā).

    In the N.S.P. ed. of the DR the reading is āyuḥkṣaṇajīvadhā- raṇarahasyam. In the Gāthāsaptaśatī (N.S.P.) the chāyā (of the 2nd foot) reads āpṛcchanajīvadhāraṇarahasyam, and Gaṅgādharabhaṭṭa, the commentator explains the verse thus:

    āpṛcchanam=gamanapraśnaḥ priye yāmy aham ityevaṃrūpaḥ. tatra yajjīvadhāranaṃ tadarthaṃ rahasyam upāyaṃ pṛcchantī. anena astu tāvad virahaḥ. tava gamanasamaye eva mugdhāyā jīvitāśā saṃdigdheti dhvanitam. But the word āpṛcchanam does not seem to be correct. Perhaps we should read āpracchanjīvadhāraṇarahasyam. Amara says āmantraṇasabhājane āpracchanam. Pūrṇasarasvatī on Meghasaṃdeśa(v. 12) says gamanānujñārtham āmantraṇam āpraśnaḥ.

  4. This is the reading from previous editions. Gr.MS. seems to read here āyuḥpraśnajīvarakṣaṇarahasyam. Others are not clear.

  5. This is the reading in M.G.T. Tri.MS. reads priyavirahasahinī. Gr.MS. looks like priyavirahajabhītim. See also Note 329 to Daśarūpāvaloka.
