18 api tad astīti vairāgyaṃ syād ity ata āha --- divyādivyeti/ na vaitṛṣṇyamātraṃ vairāgyam api tu divyādivyaviṣaysaṃprayoge 'pi cittasyānābhogātmikā/ tām eva spaṣṭayati --- heyopādeyaśūnyā/ āsaṅgadveṣarahitopekṣābuddhir vaśīkārasaṃjñā/ kutaḥ punar iyam ity atrāha --- prasaṃkhyānabalād iti/ tāpatrayaparītatā viṣayāṇāṃ doṣas tatparibhāvanayā tatsākṣātkāraḥ prasaṃkhyānaṃ tadbalād ity arthaḥ/ yatamānasaṃjñā, vyatirekasaṃjñā, ekendriyasaṃjñā, vaśīkārasaṃjñā ceti catasraḥ saṃjñā ity āgaminaḥ/ rāgādayaḥ khalu kaṣāyāś cittavartinas tair indriyāṇi yathāsvaṃ viṣayeṣu pravartante, tan mā pravartiṣatendriyāṇi tattadviṣayeṣv iti tatparipācanāyārambhaḥ prayatnaḥ sā yatamānasaṃjñā/ tadārambhe sati kecit kaṣāyāḥ pakvāḥ pacyante pakṣyante ca kecit/ tatra pakṣyamāṇebhyaḥ pakvānāṃ vyatirekeṇāvadhāraṇaṃ vyatirekasaṃjñā/ indriyapravartanāsamarthatayā pakvānām autsukyamātreṇa manasi vyavasthānam ekendriyasaṃjñā/ autsukyamātrasyāpi nivṛttir upasthiteṣv api divyādivyaviṣayeṣūpekṣābuddhiḥ saṃjñātrayāt parā vaśīkārasaṃjñā/ etayaiva ca pūrvāsāṃ caritārthatvān na tāḥ pṛthag uktā iti sarvam avadātam //1.15//

tat paraṃ puruṣakhyāter guṇavaitṛṣṇyam //1.16//

aparaṃ vairāgyam uktvā param āha --- tat paraṃ puruṣakhyāter guṇavaitṛṣṇyam/ aparavairāgyasya paraṃ vairāgyaṃ prati kāraṇatvam/ tatra ca dvāram ādarśayati --- dṛṣṭānuśravikaviṣayadoṣadarśī virakta iti/ anenāparaṃ vairāgyaṃ darśitam/ puruṣadarśanābhyāsād āgamānumānācāryopadeśasamadhigatasya puruṣasya darśanaṃ tasyābhyāsaḥ paunaḥpunyena niṣevaṇaṃ tasmāt tasya darśanasya śuddhī rajastamaḥparihāṇyā sattvaikatānatā tayā yo guṇapuruṣayoḥ prakarṣeṇa vivekaḥ puruṣaḥ śuddho 'nantas tadviparītā guṇā iti, tenāpyāyitā buddhir yasya yoginaḥ sa tathoktaḥ/ tad anena dharmameghākhyaḥ samādhir uktaḥ/ sa tathābhūto yogī guṇebhyo vyaktāvyaktadharmakebhyaḥ sarvathā viraktaḥ sattvapuruṣānyatākhyātāv api guṇātmikāyāṃ yāvad virakta iti/ tat tasmād dvayaṃ vairāgyam/ pūrvaṃ hi vairāgyaṃ sattvasamudrekavidhūtatamasi rajaḥkaṇakalaṅkasaṃpṛkte cittasattve/ tac ca tauṣṭikānām api samānam/ te hi
