syāt etad vyajyeran pūrvapūrvatarajanmābhisaṃskṛtā vāsanāḥ/ yadi pūrvapūrvatarajanmasadbhāve pramāṇaṃ syāt tad eva tu nāsti/ na ca jātamātrasya jantor harṣaśokadarśanamātraṃ pramāṇaṃ bhavitum arhati, padmādisaṃkocavikāsavat svābhāvikatvena tadupapatter ity ata āha --- tāsām anāditvaṃ cāśiṣo nityatvāt/ tāsāṃ vāsanānām anāditvaṃ ca na kevalam ānantaryam iti cārthaḥ/ āśiṣo nityatvāt/ ātmāśiṣo vāsanānām anāditve nityatvāvyabhicārād iti/ nanu svābhāvikatvenāpy upapatter asiddham āśiṣo nityatvam ity ata āha --- yeyam iti/ nāstikaḥ pṛcchati --- kasmāt/ uttaraṃ --- jātamātrasya jantor iti/ ata evaitasmiñ janmany ananubhūtamaraṇadharmakasya maraṇam eva dharmaḥ so+ananubhūto yena sa tathoktas tasya mātur aṅkāt praskhalataḥ kampamānasya māṅgalyacakrādilāñchitaṃ taduraḥsūtram atigāḍhaṃ pāṇigrāham avalambamānasya bālakasya kampabhedānumitā dveṣānuṣakte duḥkhe yā smṛtis tannimitto maraṇatrāsaḥ kathaṃ bhaved iti/ nanūktaṃ svabhāvād ity ata āha --- na ca svābhāvikaṃ vastu nimittam upādatte gṛhṇāti svotpattau/ etad uktaṃ bhavati --- bālakasyedṛśo dṛśyamānaḥ kampo bhayanibandhana īdṛśakampatvād asmadādikampavat/ bālakasya bhayaṃ dveṣaduḥkhasmṛtinimittaṃ 182 bhayatvād asmadādibhayavat/ āgāmipratyavāyotprekṣālakṣaṇaṃ ca bhayaṃ na duḥkhasmṛtimātrād bhavati, api tu yato bibheti tasya pratyavāyahetubhāvam anumāya saṃpraty api pratyavāyaṃ bhayaṃ ca vidadhyād iti śaṅkate/ tasmād yajjātīyād anubhūtacarād dveṣānuṣaktaṃ duḥkham upapāditaṃ tasya smaraṇāt tajjātīyasyānubhūyamānasya tadduḥkhahetutvam anumāya tato bibheti/ na ca bālakenāsmiñ janmani skhalanasyānyatra duḥkhahetutvam avagatam/ na ca tādṛśaṃ duḥkham upalabdham/ tasmāt prāgbhavīyo 'nubhavaḥ pariśiṣyate/ tac caitad evaṃ prayogam ārohati --- jātamātrasya bālasya smṛtiḥ pūrvānubhavanibandhanā smṛtitvād asmadādismṛtivad iti/ na ca padmasaṃkocavikāsāv api svābhāvikau/ na hi svābhāvikaṃ kāraṇāntaram apekṣate, vahner auṣṇyaṃ praty api kāraṇāntarāpekṣāprasaṅgāt/ tasmād āgantukam aruṇakarasaṃparkamātram eva kamalinīvikāsakāraṇam/ saṃkocakāraṇaṃ ca saṃskāraḥ sthitisthāpaka iti/ evaṃ smitādyanumitaharṣādayo+api prāci bhave hetavo veditavyāḥ/ tad āstāṃ tāvat prakṛtam upasaṃharati --- tasmād iti/ nimittaṃ labdhavipākakālaṃ karma/ pratilambho+abhivyaktiḥ/ prasaṅgataś cittaparimāṇavipratipattiṃ nirācikīrṣur vipratipattim āha --- ghaṭaprāsādeti/ dehapradeśavartikāryadarśanād dehād bahiḥ sadbhāve cittasya na pramāṇam asti/ na caitad aṇuparimāṇaṃ dīrghaśaṣkulībhakṣaṇādāv aparyāyeṇa jñānapañcakānutpādaprasaṅgāt/ na cānanubhūyamānakramakalpanāyāṃ pramāṇam asti/ na caikam aṇu mano nānādeśair indriyair aparyāyeṇa saṃbandhum arhati/ tat pāriśeṣyāt kāyaparimāṇaṃ cittaṃ ghaṭaprāsādavartipradīpavat/ saṃkocavikāśau puttikāhastidehayor asyotpatsyete/ śarīraparimāṇam evākāraḥ parimāṇaṃ yasyety apare pratipannāḥ/ nanv evaṃ katham asya kṣetrabījasaṃyogaḥ/ na khalv etad anāśrayaṃ mṛtaśarīrān mātṛpitṛdehavartinī lohitaretasī prāpnoti paratantratvāt/ na hi sthāṇvādiṣv agacchatsu tacchāyā gacchati/ na cāgacchati paṭe tadāśrayaṃ citraṃ gacchati/ tathā ca na saṃsāraḥ syād ity ata āha --- tathā cāntarābhāvaḥ saṃsāraś ca yukta iti/ tathā ca śarīraparimāṇatve dehāntaraprāptaye 183 pūrvadehatyāgo dehāntaraprāptiś cāntarāsyātivāhikaśarīrasaṃyogād bhavatas tena khalv ayaṃ dehāntare saṃcaret/ tathā ca purāṇam ---

"aṅguṣṭhamātraṃ puruṣaṃ niścakarṣa yamo balāt"mahābhāratam 3.297.17 iti/

so+ayam antarābhāvaḥ/ ata eva saṃsāraś ca yukta iti/ tad etad amṛṣyamāṇaḥ svamatam āha --- vṛttir evāsya vibhunaś cittasya saṃkocavikāsinīty ācāryaḥ svayaṃbhūḥ pratipede/ idam atrākūtaṃ --- yady anāśrayaṃ cittaṃ na dehāntarasaṃcāri katham etad ātivāhikam āśrayate, tatrāpi dehāntarakalpanāyām anavasthā/ na cāsya dehān niṣkarṣaḥ sātivāhikasya saṃbhavati/ niṣkṛṣṭasya cetasas tatsaṃbandhāt/ astu tarhi sūkṣmaśarīram evā sargād ā ca mahāpralayān niyataṃ cittānām adhiṣṭhānaṃ ṣāṭkauśikaśarīram adhyavarti/ tena hi cittam ā satyalokād ā cāvīces tatra tatra śarīre saṃcarati/ niṣkarṣaś cāsyopapannaḥ ṣāṭkauśikāt kāyāt/ tatra hi tadantarābhāvas tasya niyatatvāt/ na cāsyāpi sadbhāve pramāṇam asti/ na khalv etad adhyakṣagocaraḥ/ na ca saṃsāro+asyānumānam/ ācāryamatenāpy upapatteḥ/ āgamas tu puruṣasya niṣkarṣam āha/ na ca cittaṃ vā sūkṣmaśarīraṃ vā puruṣaḥ kiṃ tu citiśaktir apratisaṃkramā/ na cāsyā niṣkarṣaḥ saṃbhavatīty aupacāriko vyākhyeyaḥ/ tathā ca citeś cittasya ca tatra tatra vṛttyabhāva eva niṣkarṣārthaḥ/ yac ca smṛtītihāsapurāṇeṣu maraṇānantaraṃ pretaśarīraprāptis tadvimokaś ca sapiṇḍīkaraṇādibhir ity uktaṃ tad anujānīmaḥ/ ātivāhikatvaṃ tasya na mṛṣyāmahe/ na cātrāsti kaścid āgamaḥ/ labdhaśarīra eva ca yamapuruṣair api pāśabaddho nīyate/ na tv ātivāhikaśarīraḥ/ tasmād āhaṃkārikatvāc cetaso 'haṃkārasya ca gaganamaṇḍalavat trailokyavyāpitvād vibhutvaṃ manasaḥ/ evaṃ ced asya vṛttir api vibhvīti sarvajñatāpattir ity ata uktaṃ vṛttir evāsyeti/ syād etat/ cittamātrādhīnāyā vṛtteḥ saṃkocavikāsau kutaḥ kādācitkāv ity ata āha --- tac ca cittaṃ dharmādinimittāpekṣam/ vṛttau nimittaṃ vibhajate --- nimittaṃ ceti/ ādigrahaṇenendriyadhanādayo gṛhyante/ śraddhādīty atrāpi vīryasmṛtyādayo gṛhyante/ āntaratve saṃmatim ācāryāṇām āha --- tathā coktam/ 184 vihāro vyāpāraḥ/ prakṛṣṭaṃ śuklaṃ, tayor bāhyābhyantarayor madhye/ jñānavairāgye tajjanito dharmaḥ (tajjanitau dharmau) kena bāhyasādhyena dharmeṇātiśayyete abhibhūyete/ jñānavairāgyajāv eva dharmau tam abhibhavataḥ, bījabhāvād apanayata ity arthaḥ/ atraiva suprasiddham udāharaṇam āha --- daṇḍakāraṇyam iti //4.10//
